DLP stands for Digital Light
Processing and DLP is also one of the leading technologies used in
digital cinema projection.
DLP projectors have a much higher pixel “fill factor”
than LCD. DLP-based projectors generally produce a much
smoother looking animated image compared to LCD-based projectors of
similar resolution. DLP Projectors provide smooth and
jitter free images at 1080p resolution and have excellent
grayscale linearity as well as replaceable light sources.
DLP projectors also has less of
a "screen door" effect when compared to their LCD
counterparts. The "screen door effect" is a visual
artifact in which fine lines separating the projectors
pixels become visible on the projected image, thus giving
the feel that you are viewing the screen through a screen or
mesh door.
DLP-based projectors have a high
contrast ratio and efficient use of light. Contrast ratio is
figure of merit that compares the ratio between the brightest
white and the darkest black that a projector can produce.
Generally, a better contrast ratio leads to better black
levels and, therefore, a more realistic presentation of darker
scenes in movies and TV programs. |
